Kathleen Doyle "Kathy" Bates is an American actress and director. After several minor roles in film and TV during the 1970s and 80s, she gained widespread prominence for her role in the film version of Misery, in which she played psychopathic fan Annie Wilkes, for which she received a Best Actress Oscar. Her other well known roles include appearances in Dolores Claiborne, Titanic, Primary Colors, About Schmidt and Fried Green Tomatoes. Her TV roles include Delphine DeLaurie and Ethel Darling in American Horror Story and Charlie Harper's ghost in Two and A Half Men.
